New Jersey Fireworks

It’s nearly that time when we wait until dark and look up towards the heavens to admire beautiful fireworks to celebrate America’s birthday.  Here are some of the displays you can catch in Union County NJ.


A fireworks display will be the highlight of Cranford’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration on Tuesday, July 4.

The day-long community festival will offer something for everyone including canoe races, a one-mile fun run and a four-mile run, plus vendors in the park. There will also be amusement rides and games.  The festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with canoe races scheduled at the Cranford Canoe Club, 250 Springfield Ave., Cranford. Registration will be immediately before the races at 7:30 a.m. on July 4 at the Canoe Club.  The Jaycees will conduct their Annual Firecracker Run beginning with a one-mile Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. and a four-miler at 9 a.m. at Nomahegan Park, Springfield Ave., Cranford.

There will be food vendors in the park offering zeppoles, pork and beef barbecue, sausage and hot dogs, ice cream and assorted drinks from 2 to 10 p.m.

The fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m. at Nomahegan Park, Cranford. Limited parking will be available at Union County College, 1033 Sprinfield Ave, Cranford, however, residents are urged to walk if possible. Rain date for fireworks only will be on July 5.


 This annual event is held at Our Lady of Lourdes fields on Tuesday, July 4 at 7 p.m. Although the fireworks begin at dusk, there is a DJ, snacks as well as giveaways. This event is held in conjunction with the Town and Fire Company.


The City of Summit 70th annual Fourth of July Celebration will take place on Tuesday, July 4 at Soldiers Memorial Field, located at 5 Myrtle Ave.  The daylong celebration will include entertainment, rides and amusements, as well as an expanded food truck festival.

The day will begin with the Flag Raising Ceremony at 9:45 a.m., followed by the children’s decorated bicycle parade at 10 a.m. Rides, amusements and children’s entertainment will continue until 1 p.m., when Memorial Field will close for setup for evening activities.

The evening’s festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and will include rides, entertainment and the food truck festival. Presley and Melody will perform an interactive pop music concert at 6:15 p.m., followed by the Infernos in Concert at 7:30 p.m. The night will close with the spectacular fireworks display, beginning at 9:15 p.m.


And for those of you who want to view the most amazing fireworks of all, take the ride to Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

Come one, come all to the biggest Independence Day celebration in New Jersey for a full-day filled with live music on two stages, super fun amusement rides, and a mouth-watering myriad of eats and drinks. The festivities will culminate with an amazing fireworks extravaganza by Grucci set against Lady Liberty and the New York City skyline starting at 9 pm.

Be aware, the Park gets very crowded and you need to arrive early to ensure you get in!
