Woodbridge Real Estate
The Township of Woodbridge is the oldest original township in New Jersey. It covers a total of 26 square miles. It has a population of over 100,000 which places it as the fifth most populous municipality in the State.
Many distinct and different communities exist within Woodbridge Township. Several of these communities have their own zip codes, but they are all unincorporated areas and neighborhoods within the Township that, together, form Woodbridge Township in population and area. These ten sections consist of: Avenel, Colonia, Fords, Hopelawn, Iselin, Keasbey, Menlo Park Terrace, Port Reading, Sewaren, Woodbridge Proper.
The Edison Bridge on US 9 spans the Raritan River, connecting Woodbridge Township on the north with Sayreville on the south. Garden State Parkway exits 127 to 131 are in the Township. The New Jersey Turnpike passes through Woodbridge Township and is accessible at Exit 11. Routes 1, 35 and 9 all pass through the Township. It offers easy transportation with Metro Park Station in Iselin offering a direct 40 minute ride to Manhattan and a new deck making for ease of parking.
[widgets_on_pages id=”Woodbridge”]Woodbridge was settled largely by New Englanders in the early autumn of 1664. In 1669, it was granted a Charter by King Charles I of England. In 1751, the first permanent printing press and publishing house in New Jersey was established. Much later, in 1877, at a graduation ceremony at the Union Town school, Thomas Alva Edison demonstrated the telephone.
Woodbridge is home to 24 schools: 16 elementary schools, five middle schools and three high schools. Total enrollment at the three high schools is over 5,000 students. The high schools offer more than 150 courses. For the 2004-05 school year, Matthew Jago Elementary School was named a ‘Star School’ by the New Jersey Dept of Education, the highest honor that a New Jersey School can achieve.
Woodbridge is unique in that its residents strongly identify with the close-knit sections of the community in which they live. These communities vary widely from the beautiful homes on acre lots in Colonia Estates to the busy ethnic retail life in Iselin. Those seeking retail therapy can head to the sprawling Woodbridge Center Mall on Route 1.
