Mountainside Real Estate
Mountainside NJ was incorporated as a borough from portions of Westfield Township in 1895. The borough is bordered by Summit to the north, Springfield to the east, Berkeley Heights and Scotch Plains to the west and Westfield to the south. The borough has a total area of 4.1 square miles.
Mountainside was ranked by New Jersey Monthly magazine as its 16th best place to live in its 2008 rankings of “Best Places to Live in New Jersey” and then again in 2010, Mountainside made number 8 on the same list.
Mountainside is a popular place to live as far as having a central location with slightly lower property taxes than the surrounding towns. Currently in 2012, available Mountainview housing prices range from $300,000 up to $2,500,000. Since late 2011, actual home sales have ranged from $285,000 to $770,000.
The Mountainside school district offers schools for public school students from Kindergarten to eighth grade. Beechwood School offers education or grades K to 2nd and Deerfield School is for grades 3 to 8. After that, students attend attend Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights for 9th to 12th grades.
New Jersey Transit service provides bus service to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Residents travel the short distance to Summit or Westfield stations for train service in New Jersey and into Penn Station, Manhattan. Newark Liberty International Airport is approximately 11 miles to the east of Mountainside.
